Vision 目标
With the set up of DES ARTS, our Professional Contemporary Chinese Dance Company in 2004. It aims to grow from its current 8 full time
dancers to 20, and to keep on stream 40 dancers to form a second core group. In keeping with the objectives of promoting home grown talent and
raising the overall artistic standard of dance in Singapore, DES plans to discover new talent from its other activity in arts education. In
addition, DES ARTS hopes to train versatile artistes and ensure the sustainability of its professional dance company by improving the efficacy
of its education programme from increased training facilities and widened arts education programme from the already well-established dance
school, DES Performing Arts Academy.
DES will continue to promote Chinese culture, develop the arts and cultivate the younger generation in arts appreciation. In keeping with
the lifelong learning culture, DES will widen its dance education programme for its students and dancers by expanding its syllabus to include
martial arts, music and drama. This will create well-rounded artistes for the company and the arts scene in Singapore. Against this backdrop
of a widened education syllabus, DES's participation in the National Arts Council's Arts Education Programme will benefit primary and secondary
school children in Singapore.
Besides counting on local content, DES will continue to explore international opportunities to raise its profile, generate creative ideas
and infuse groundbreaking dance experience. DES aims to collaborate with reputable dance organizations and practitioners in co-production of
performances, workshops, exchange programmes, dance camps, and overseas dance tours. It will continue to invite international acclaimed
choreographers and dance instructors from countries such as China, Taiwan and the United States.
