DES Arts presents its 2nd main season production "Chi-Extravaganza"《古韵新意 - 华族舞蹈晚会》. "Chi-Extravaganza" is a highly sought after Chinese ethnic and classical dance production featuring the rich cultural and heritage of our Chinese tradition.
This performance will be divided into four sections, “Tradition”, “Classic”, “Neo- tradition” and “Neo-Classic”. The first two sections will be centered on the beauty of Chinese classical and ethnic dance performing genres, depicting the beauty of tradition and the need to preserve this valuable quality in life. The last two sections will be focused on an evolution of tradition by using Chinese contemporary dancing to depict how tradition can also be relevant in contemporary times.
Led by Artistic Director, Mdm Yan Choong Lian, we have invited renowned artistic talents to participate with DES Arts to present this performance in the hope of showcasing our versatility as Singapore’s premier ethnic Chinese dance company. Award winning dancers from Beijing Dance Academy, Shanghai Dance Company and Shen Yang dance troupe will be part of this production. DES Arts Dance Director , Ms Yap Guat Khim and Resident Choreographer, Ms Low Sharon as well as our very own dancers, Ms Shiji Cai, Ms Tey Dan Yi, Ms Goh Yan Dan, Mr Guo Xiaoxing and Ms Guo Lanjie will also be showcasing their talents and seeking to bring this collaboration to new heights and bringing out the best of tradition.
